I missed this when it first appeared almost two weeks ago. A mainstream newspaper looks at social news sites including Newsvine.

Yeah.. but what kind of look is it?
To begin with - I suppose I always thought of digg and reddit.com as social bookmarking rather than social news sites. The main point of contention in this article is as to the news worthiness of the content on these sites. Did you notice that they didn't give an example of what was on newsvines home page? The US election is always predominately published here. It is a convenient lumping together of bookmarking and news based sites to confuse the situation. I wonder if the author has used these sites. Geee. I'm not throwing up my bookmarks here - I use delicious for that! Another publisher frightened of public debate. Silly control freaks are missing the boat!
