Newsvine makes Google News!

The Google News home page this evening, with the Newsvine news at the bottom of the image.

As you know, I've been watching and seeding some of the news articles about the Newsvine acquisition this evening. All of a sudden I wondered about Google News, which I used to watch more closely before hanging out here. I checked it out, and as you can see on the right, the story made it to Google News home page.

Newsvine is news! This should bring Newsvine more top-of-mind awareness out there. And it helps MSNBC, both with the addition of our community, and also with the technology that was/is being developed here. Expect to see some of the Newsvine look and feel ported to MSNBC.

A while ago I discussed the possibility of developing another site on the Newsvine model for a client with the Newsvine team. Sadly my client let the idea lapse, but I still think that Newsvine's model of social interaction around news events works extremely well. And was worthly of the attention being paid now by MSNBC.

Way to go, everyone!

Good find, MarilynL. I have Newsvine set for google news alerts - it sends me an email announcing any news stories during the past 24 hours mentioning Newsvine, or Fred Phelps.

It was my time to be a reporter. I took that screenshot during the few hours we were on the front page of Google News. I checked a little later and it was already gone. I had fun reporting the Newsvine news!

It depends on your platform. I'm on Mac, and use either Paparazzi (free and great for me since it can output as a pdf as well as jpg) or Snapz Pro X (free version comes with the machine, Pro version costs a little).

I don't know what you do on the PC. Maybe some else can help out with that info.

Just use SHIFT and then while holding it hit PRT SCN and the paste it into Word or notepad and you have it.
